Why have a sustainable and vegetarian TCM practice?

As Hippocrates said, "first do no harm." I believe that is why so many people have chosen careers in acupuncture and traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) ( as opposed to conventional/allopathic medicine) to begin with. Acupuncuture and Oriental medicine is the best way to help sustain and regain heath without risky side effects of pharmaceuticals. I say... let's step it up a notch. Compassion is not true compassion if you have to hurt one thing to help another. If another living thing must be hurt or killed in order to help (many times) minor or preventable diseases it is not helping to alleviate the suffering of the world. I believe that each TCM doctor should take steps to make their practice more sustainable by not purchasing or using species which are threatened, endangered or harmed. Since Chinese medicine is so versitile and vast there are substitutes which can be used instead. This is why this website was created. This is to make having a sustainable and vegetarian/vegan practice easier.
